• Mar 3 • How to Prepare and Plant a Back yard Asparagus Bed Grow this early gourmet spring vegetable in your own back yard. Bob Small, a local farmer and Asparagus grower, will take you through the steps of bed preparation and planting the crowns, to insure you of a bountiful harvest. Class is free. • Mar 24 • 'Make and Take ' ... Our Popular Hypertufa Class Is Back! Old stone sinks and animal troughs have been used as planters for centuries but have become both scarce and expensive. Now you can add an element of old English style to your garden by making your own Hypertufa planter. Hypertufa planters have an old look and style but are lighter than concrete and undamaged by freezing. Bring gloves, a trowel, and a friend. Class fee is $35.00 includes all materials

Dick Boshe, local horticulturist and proud owner of Glen Echo Gardens, will talk about what is new and how to grow these cool begonias . Begonias are not a granny plant anymore! No class fee. Special discounts for this class.

• Apr 28 • What is a Grafted Tomato Plant?
You've read about them in magazines, plant catalogues and everyone is talking about them. Skagit Gardens in Mt. Vernon is now growing grafted tomatoes and will supply the Garden Spot. The grafting process is by hand in a tightly controlled process. Grafted tomato plants are new to us, this is a chance for you to try something new too. No fee for this class.

• Apr 7 • Pot up your own Herb Garden. MaryEllen Carter, a local cook book author and owner of her own Verde Specialty Foods joins Marcy for a morning of "foodie" conversation, recipe tips and lots of fresh ideas on how to use herbs in your cooking. Class fee of $25.00 covers all supplies.
• Apr 21 • Planting day at The Garden Spot. Time: Satuday, 9 AM - 2 PM. Bring containers from home or select from our fabulous selection. Our expert staff will help you gather the right combination of plants and flowers. Gardner & Bloome Soil and plant hortculturist, Naiomi Murray, will be on hand to do the planting. There will be complementary soil and labor for this event. Special discount on plants used in your containers. If you can carry your container, you can bring as many as you like!
